As the Civil Marriage Equality and Religious Protection Act of 2013 (HB 75) heads to the House floor for a vote after winning bipartisan approval in the House Administration Committee -- support for the freedom to marry continues to build.
Today, the Delaware State Education Association, a public employee union representing the public school teachers and specialists in all 19 school districts, announced its support for allowing all committed couples to share in the freedom to marry:
"We believe strongly that all citizens deserve access to the same dignity and privileges afforded by our government. Civil rights for all and equal access to the law are what helps make our country great." --DSEA President Frederika Jenner
This endorsement from an organization representing 12,000 Delawareans affirms how widespread support for marriage equality is. This partnership with DSEA strengthens our campaign going into this next critical vote.
DSEA joins a growing coalition of individuals and organizations calling on our legislators to extend the freedom to marry to all loving couples in the state. The coalition includes civil rights organizations like the Delaware NAACP, businesses like DuPont, and faith leaders from many traditions. In addition to DSEA, the campaign has been endorsed by four of the state's leading labor unions.
Fair-minded Delawareans across the state are getting involved in the campaign daily. Join them! Send a message to your legislators or sign up to volunteer!
