FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARCH 28, 2013
WILMINGTON- As momentum for marriage equality continues to grow in the First State, Equality Delaware -- the statewide organization working to pass a marriage bill in the Delaware General Assembly this year -- announced a $50,000 matching gift challenge from Freedom to Marry, the campaign to win marriage nationwide.
From now through mid-April, Freedom to Marry will match every donation made to Equality Delaware, up to $50,000. This significant investment will fuel the ongoing grassroots work to build support for marriage equality in Delaware, including volunteer mobilization, voter contact, and public education. Equality Delaware has already facilitated thousands of conversations between Delawareans and will continue ramping up grassroots efforts with the goal of passing marriage equality before the end of the legislative session.
“Support is growing every day in Delaware for the freedom to marry. We are focused on helping states move to marriage, and Delaware is poised to do so.” said Evan Wolfson, President and Founder of Freedom to Marry. “Equality Delaware is a critical partner in that effort, and Freedom to Marry is happy to support its on-the-ground work to pass a marriage bill in Delaware this year."
“We are honored to work with Freedom to Marry,” said Lisa Goodman, President of Equality Delaware. “Their support through this matching gift will allow us to continue our work to pass a marriage equality bill this year.”
Supporters who wish to give can visit http://equalitydelaware.org/match and Freedom to Marry will double their donation.
