This Wednesday, 27 students volunteered to make calls in support of marriage equality in Delaware. After a quick training we jumped on the phones to help mobilize supporters across the state and encouraged them to contact their legislators.
Students have been pitching in during regular events at UD for a few weeks now, but as each week passes the number of student volunteers almost doubles. This is partly due to the buzz on campus after the rally with Governor Markell. Also, students have been excited about the bill introduction and the recent success in the House.
We seen volunteers from every aspect of campus life. Fraternities and sororities have pitched in, a ton of student organizations and folks just wanting to lend a helping hand.
Now, we are eagerly waiting for HB75 to reach the Senate for a vote, and we hope that our efforts helped lead to marriage equality in Delaware.
