Volunteer Spotlight: Host a House Party for Equality!

-->

Over the past three weeks, I have been volunteering with Equality Delaware -- making calls to connect Delawareans with their legislators.

All the hours I spent volunteering inspired me to host a letter writing house party in Dover. I know handwritten letters are the best way to inspire legislators to stand up for the freedom to marry -- so I wanted to gather my friends and family together and provide them with a way to turn their support for marriage equality into action!

I was a little nervous about hosting a party because I know how hard it can be to get people to show up -- even if they believe in the cause. But I invited about twenty friends and family and just hoped for the best.

The evening of the party, I was delighted, shocked, and excited when about a dozen people showed up at my house, including my mother and my little sister! I couldn't believe so many folks had come to show their support and take action.

To start off the party, Karl from Equality Delaware gave us all an update about the marriage campaign, and then we put pen to paper. Over pizza, we shared our stories and wrote letters -- counting ten more letters to lawmakers urging them to support marriage for all loving couples.

All in all, it was a great night for everyone, and even my friends who were nervous taking action said it was fun being able to support something you believe in.
